Nigeria Cuts Off Gas Supply To Ghana

Nigeria has suspended the flow of natural gas to Ghana over unpaid bills, local media reported on Wednesday, saying an amount of some USD 180 million was outstanding.

News outlets reported that Ghana’s state-owned Volta River Authority owes N-Gas, which in turn is in arrears to the West African Pipeline Company, the operator of the conduit that transports gas from Nigeria to Benin, Togo and onwards to Ghana. The latter’s arrears have been building since October 2015, and the Ghanaian government subsequently missed its February 2016 payment deadline.

Army Cuts Off Boko Haram’s Food Supply

The Nigerian Army yesterday, said it has succeeded in cutting off the supply routes of Boko Haram insurgents, thereby rendering them dejected, hungry and with no capability to confront troops in the renewed offensive against the terrorists.

The army, which stated that the military was gaining an upper hand, how- ever, attributed the successes so far recorded in the operations to members of the public, who it said, have been assisting with relevant information and
intelligence. It stated that such information had helped to rout the insurgents from their strongholds as their leader- ship, which has been completely decimated, are now on the run, while their foot soldiers are abandoning their masters and burying their weapons in the forest in search of refuge.
