The senator representing Bayelsa East constituency in the National Assembly, Ben Murray-Bruce, has argued that the absence of youth participation in governance is responsible for Nigeria’s economic recession.
He noted that the country had only experienced recession twice, and that on both occasions, Nigeria was not being led by youth.
Taking to his twitter handle, Murray-Bruce had written, “Youths have tremendous potential. Nigeria has only gone into recession twice in her history and at both times, we were not led by youths.”
According to official figures, Nigeria has about 70 per cent youth population — which is approximately 80 million.
