KWIRS Clamps Down on License Offenders, Impounds 200 Vehicles in 2 weeks.

Since the commencement of its Road Tax Enforcement Drive, the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) has impounded over 200 vehicles in two weeks.

The Vehicles were impounded for various offences ranging from expired vehicle particulars to lack of driver’s license by a collective enforcement team of KWIRS, Federal Road Safety Corps, Vehicles Inspection Officers, Nigeria Police and staffers of Kwara state Road Traffic Management Agency (KWARTMA).

Speaking during the exercise on Wednesday along University Road, the Director of Enforcement and Legal Department, Dr. Isaac Gbenle said the enforcement has begun to yield in voluntary compliance.

According to him “a lot of people have seen that we mean business and they are working into our office to get the papers corrected and documented.

“we are on the road to ensure that the exercise continues and very soon we will move to the outskirts of the city and all the local government areas.

Gbenle explained that the Agency have covered most strategic areas within the metropolis like Asa-dam road, Government House, General-Sawmill, Flower-Garden axis, parts of Omo-Aran and Offa.

The Director advised road users to get their licenses updated and documented to avoid harassment on the road.

It would be recalled that KWIRS commenced tax enforcement on road, property, tenement, and Corporate Organizations on November 1st this year.
