Rita Ora Calls “Becky With The Good Hair” Accusations “Incredibly Rude & Disrespectful”

In the witch hunt for Beyoncé’s “Becky with the good hair,” Rita Ora was one of the BeyHive’s primary targets — and now, the singer wants to make it clear that she found the accusations to be “incredibly rude and disrespectful.”

“First and foremost, Jay Z is my inspiration and one of my idols — lyrically, musically, business-wise,” she said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. “I still look up to him and his wife every day. Beyoncé was one of my biggest idols growing up.”

When asked about the “Not Becky” pin she wore to a 2016 Met Ball after-party and the selfie she posted to Snapchat wearing a lemon appliqué bra, Rita explained that she was actually totally “oblivious” to their significance with fans.

“That [pin] was a present from Katy Perry,” she said. “Maybe I was the only one seen wearing it, but there were others. As for the rest of it, I’m oblivious, I’m just not the gossip queen. I find it incredibly rude and disrespectful to women in general [when] we get accused of something that’s basically against the important part — the music.”

In the interview, Rita also addressed the fact that she’s found herself at the centre of celebrity gossip for quite a few of her relationships, too — including with her ex-boyfriend, Calvin Harris.

“He’s very talented,” she said. “I have had a few dramas, haven’t I? I think in general I’ve learned my lesson to not talk about relationships and gossip because I’ve been at the centre of it a few times and it’s not worth it. And I have been heartbroken… just once.”

“Love is so great, but it also can be the most dangerous thing on planet earth,” she continued. “People do crazy things when it comes to jealousy and love.”
