CAN Plans Spiritual Offensive Against Kidnappers

Delta State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has warned kidnappers in the state to repent from the nefarious actions or be ready to face intense spiritual offensive from the ‘soldiers of Christ’.

The Christian body insisted that if the unholy act of kidnapping persists in the state, it will not hesitate to mobilize Christians for appropriate massive actions against herdsmen suspected to be perpetrators of the act.

CAN was specifically reacting to the recent kidnap and subsequent brutal murder of the Obi of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha South Local Government Area, HRM Akaeze Ofolue III, as well as last weekend kidnap of the traditional ruler of Olomoro Kingdom in Isoko South Local Government Area, HRM Josiah Aghaza I.

In a statement signed by the state chairman of CAN, Rev. Gideon Oyibo and secretary, Rev. Ole Akokotu, the body said it was worried by the rising spate of kidnapping and condemned the dastard act in strong terms.

The statement also implored calling security agencies in the state to be alive to their responsibilities in nipping the re-occurring but ugly incident in the bud.

While condoling with the entire people of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom on the bizarre kidnapping and gruesome murder of Obi Ofolue III, the association declared intensive prayers for the quick release of the kidnapped traditional ruler of Olomoro Kingdom, Aghaza I.

Besides, the association called on all Christians and church leaders in the state to pray and fast regularly for the peace, security and safety of all traditional rulers, medical doctors, government officials, politicians, gospel ministers and all residents in Delta State.

The statement further enjoined youths in the state to continue to monitor activities of herdsmen in their respective domains and report suspicious and atrocious movements to the relevant authorities.
