Police are currently looking for a group of men who brutally beat then shot and killed a 22-year-old transgender woman in Philadelphia on Tuesday morning.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Kiesha Jenkins, who lived in North Philadelphia, was in a car that dropped her off on ?Wingohocking Street? early Tuesday morning, around 2:30 a.m. Moments after she got out of the car, five or six men attacked her, police told reporters. One of the men had a gun and shot Jenkins twice in the back. She was later taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.
Captain James Clark of the Philadelphia police said the department is actively investigating the crime and seeking witnesses who saw the shooting as well as the driver who dropped her off. “?We don’t know if it’s potentially a hate crime, or a robbery, we really don’t know,” Clark told reporters. “It’s too early in the investigation.”
