Lagos Donates N150m To IDPs In Borno, Adamawa, Yobe

The Lagos State Government has donated N50 million each to Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states to assist the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) there.

Lagos State governor, Akinwumi Ambode, presented the donation yesterday during the Council of State meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ambode described Boko Haram insurgency and its devastating activities as a single challenge facing the entire nation.

According to the governor, although the insurgency is basically limited to the north-eastern part of Nigeria, the effect is felt everywhere across the states of the federation.

He said the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal had at the just-concluded National Economic Summit, presented a graphic and heart-rending report of the extent of damage and social trauma caused by Boko Haram in the north-east.

He commended Buhari for his administration’s renewed commitment to bringing insurgency to a logical conclusion by December; and the security agencies for their gallantry, courage and resolve to achieve the president’s directive and wish of Nigerians.

Borno State Governor, Kassim Shettima thanked the government and the people of Lagos State for the gesture.
