Senator Ahmed Lawan a Senator from North East the Zone hit hardest by the Boko Haram insurgency days boycotted the delegation that went for on spot assessment of the damage caused by the insurgency.
Lawan was the preferred candidate of some leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the senate president’s seat.
The senators had during a plenary last week resolved to visit Northeast states to meet victims of the Boko Haram insurgency.
Saraki on Monday led some senators to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
Saraki had on Tuesday during the plenary constituted a 8-man senate committee with the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu as leader and Lawan as a member.
Other members of the delegation are Binta Masi Garba, Abubakar Ahmadu, Abdul-Aziz Murtala Nyako, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, Bashir Marafa and George Sekibo.
While other members of the delegation led by Senator left for Adamawa state, Lawan was seen at the chamber.
Our correspondent reports that since the resumption of the senate on July 28th from recess, Lawan, a third term senator has not made any contribution on the floor of the Senate.
Lawan (Yobe north) didn’t utter a word even when Boko Haram insurgency was discussed last week at the plenary.
