The Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, on Tuesday appointed a former Internal Auditor of Shell Petroleum Development Company, Mr. Umar Hassan-Waziri, as the new Accountant-General of the state.
The governor said the appointment was part of the ongoing reorganisation of the state civil service for greater efficiency.
The new appointment was contained in a statement from el-Rufai’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Samuel Aruwan.
It partly reads, “The new Accountant-General is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
“He studied Accounting at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and graduated in 1995.
“Born in Zaria in 1971, Waziri has worked with Shell Petroleum Development Company as internal auditor.”
Meanwhile, the statement also announced the retirement of more permanent secretaries in the civil service.
They are Adamu Makadi, Permanent Secretary (Local Government); Ibrahim Balarabe Musa, Permanent Secretary (Youth, Sports and Culture); and Ishaku Shekari (Accountant-General).
It directed the affected officers to hand over to the most senior director in their ministries.
