The meeting of national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with its National Assembly members-elect scheduled for Thursday has been shifted to Saturday.
The meeting was called off as the various camps angling for the Senate Presidency and Speakership positions refused to agree on consensus candidates.
The party’s national working committee hurriedly called off the meeting after receiving intelligence report that the APC legislators-elect were spoiling for a showdown over the consensus arrangement.
The lawmakers are angry with the party’s leadership for meddling in the affairs of the incoming 8th National Assembly.
Lai Mohammed, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, however, said the shift was due to the valedictory session held for the senators on Thursday.
