Ekiti state, a reputable state of the intellectuals respected for their quest for knowledge, justice and equity. A state referred by many as ilu awon Ojogbon (land of professors), where notable Nigeria dignitaries emerged.
Ekiti people are known to be hospitable, friendly and peaceful but the much revered reputation is going down the drain as it’s been long Ekiti state has hit the good side of the news, rather, if not impeachment, it may be thuggery, robbery and now it’s kidnapping.
At the mention of the fountain of knowledge or the land of honour, I remember my good friends and fathers, not forgetting Chief Ayo Babalola (SAN), Chief Femi Falana (SAN), Engineer Segun Oni, Dr. Kayode Fayemi amongst others, but why must things get so worse before a successful intervention? According to a Yoruba adage “Agba kin wa ni ile ki ori omo tun-tun wo’ meaning “an elderly ones present avert crises”

This little piece of mine isn’t meant to halt the image of Ekiti state but it’s directed at sustaining the good will and deeds that the fountain of knowledge is known for.
The recent kidnappings which involves the former EKSUTH CMD, Adegun and wife kidnapped in Ekiti state which took the forceful intervention of Ekiti state NMA through strike paralysing the system is still fresh and alarming, so soon, it’s the turn of Obafemi Awolowo University lecturer, Dr. Omisore. Is it that the gallant security men aren’t more effective or the Chief security officer of the state isn’t giving them fair ground to operate?
Governor Ayo Fayose claimed that he is in charge of the state by stopping the APC law makers illegally from discharging their functions, overriding a judge in the state, taking control of the bars and the “ashana”, definitely, he should also be held responsible for the kidnapping, thuggery and robberies or if I may ask where are the security votes?
Governor Fayose, please take a cue from your fellow south – west governors and provide adequate security or leave the mantle of leadership into more capable hands.
