The Anambra police command has begun an investigation into violence that erupted at the Ihiala Local Government Headquarters on Sunday. Anambra Police PR Officer Uche Ezeh confirmed yesterday that two police officers were injured while attempting to restore peace in the area.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, an eyewitness said a group of politicians and thugs stormed the headquarters with the intention of beating up workers at the collation venue.
According to the witness, four people sustained bullet wounds, while one was feared dead. Martin Ezenna, another witness at the scene, described the incident as shocking.
