Defected PDP Members Get 48-Hour Ultimatum to “Undefect”

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state who defected to other political parties to contest next month’s election have been given a 48-hour ultimatum by the party to return, or face suspension.

This was disclosed by the Deputy National Chairman of the South/South party, Cairo Ojuighoh, on Wednesday at Ororokpe and Sapele on the second day of the state PDP rally.According to him, the party would not tolerate such anti-party activities whereby members who lost at the primary would go to another party to compete.

Some members of the PDP who participated in the party’s primary elections last month had defected to other parties to pursue their aspirations, Daily Independent reports. Ojuighoh explained that the party would not accept the excuse of them coming back after their victory.

He said the assumption that there was an accord between one party and the PDP is not correct. He therefore warned the culprits of such an assumption, and those promoting the idea, to be careful so that the party would not believe them to be working against the party.
