Authorities of the University of Calabar have raised alarm over what they called increasing number of fraudsters, who are swindling students and contractors.
Bursar of the institution, Mr Peter A. Agi, in a circular, warned contractors working for the school and students to be on alert.
He urged contractors of the school to cross-check with his office before making any payment to anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of the management.
Agi said some fraudsters accosted unsuspecting contractors and students and demanded gratifications to ensure their payments or documentation.
In another development, Director of Physical Planning in the university, Engineer E. I. Eyo, lamented the seizure of land belonging to the school.
