Lagos, Nigeria. Tuesday, 22 January 2014. Co-creation Hub Nigeria formally launched the Mobile Experience Lab (MX Lab), a space that gives mobile device users in Lagos an opportunity to experience latest gadgets first hand.
The Mobile Experience Lab (www.cchubnigeria.com/mxlab), launched on the ground floor of 294 Herbert Macaulay Way, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos on Tuesday 21st January 2014, was born out of the necessity to bridge the gap between users and digital service providers in Nigeria. In attendance for the opening ceremony were key stakeholders in the technology ecosystem including Honorable ‘Biyi Mabadeje, Commissioner for Science and Technology for Lagos State and Mr. Larry Annetts, Group Marketing Officer at MTN.
Speaking at the launch, Bosun Tijani, CEO of Co-creation Hub said: “When people do not feel your pain, it is difficult for them to address your problem. That is why we encourage homegrown solutions. In our over 3,000 strong community of developers, tech entrepreneurs and enthusiasts, we have people building solutions, but there is a massive disconnect between what we build and what the market is interested in. We need to engage the market more in the development process so we build what they need to use.”
The MX Lab will help enhance the quality of local digital solutions, improve customer satisfaction, and accelerate smart application of technology through:
- Research: to generate, process and disseminate extensive knowledge and data to aid better understanding of the end-users by our community members
- Usability Testing: to provide usability testing with real users to help developers avoid poor user experience which can inherently ruin a product
- Evangelism: to sensitize and enlighten the community on the importance of usability and user experience in product development.
For everyday Nigerians, the MX Lab is a place where they can experience digital tools, applications and devices from multiple phone manufacturers without feeling the pressure to buy. The lab intends to attract over 120 end users into the space everyday to play with products, make informed decisions and give feedback to community members. It is also perfect for individuals and organisations to test and launch new products they are developing.
The MX Lab is open to the public from 10am to 7pm daily (Monday – Saturday) and is proudly supported by our sponsors, MTN Nigeria and The Schmidt Family Foundation, and partners Microsoft, Nokia, Samsung and Tecno.
