Nigeria’s Daystar Christian Centre Trains Young Entrepreneurs

Unlimited joy filled the air as Daystar Skill Acquisition Programme (DSAP) held another graduation ceremony on Friday July 5th 2013 at the church’s Main Auditorium, Plot A3C, Ikosi Road, Oregun Ikeja, Lagos. DSAP is a training arm of Daystar Christian Centre, Lagos where people are trained with various skills to generate income and live in financial freedom.

This makes the 11th set of graduands to be released by the DSAP having empowered them with practical trainings, within ten straight days, in different crafts which includes Makeup, Photography, Web-Design, Graphics, Sewing, Generator Repairs, Shoemaking, Beads-Making, Cake-Making, Pastries and the likes.

Addressing the new graduands on behalf of the Senior Pastor, Sam Adeyemi, Group Head Operations, Daystar Christian Centre, Pastor Kenny Folarin admonished the participants to make the most of their acquired skills to add great value to the society.

“Always strive towards continuous development and aim at being the very best in your chosen field, because what you learn is what determines what you earn,” he said. He also appreciated the entire DSAP team as led by the enthusiastic coordinator, Mrs. Toyin Olusola, for a job well done.

Speaking about her experience at the just concluded DSAP, Abdulmalik Kehinde, one of the Fashion Design graduands enthused “I came here not knowing anything about Fashion Designing, but now I can design so many things as I’ve learnt a lot. This dress I’m wearing was designed by me within two weeks of DSAP. Really, words can’t express my appreciation but, all the same, I’ll say God bless Daystar.”

Kingsley Newton, a participant from the Generator Repairs section also couldn’t hide his excitement at his newly gained advantage. According to him, “It was a great experience and the facilitator was very good. Although I’m not a member of Daystar, with this two weeks training, I can go out there and confidently work on any portable generator. I intend to take this to the next level and I’d love to say a big thank you to Pastor Sam Adeyemi for this great opportunity.”

Since inception 2009, DSAP has trained out over 15,000 thousand members and non-members in various skills. Over time, the leadership of Daystar Christian Centre has maintained that the essence of a church is the positive impacts it makes on the society. Our mission is “to empower you and I to discover, develop, release and maximize our potentials in God”.

The trainings run three times every year. February, June and October.
