#AwakeningYou: DON’T BE STUPID! – Steven Haastrup @StevenHaastrup

Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

Welcome to #AwakeningYou – a Tuesday weekly script of #StevenSpeaks.

My dear reader, for a million dollars would you jump in front of a fast moving train? You would not?

I thought you wouldn’t. But how about jumping off the airplane at a very high altitude, say 3,000 feet? That should be pretty easier, or what do you think? You still would not?

Now, you are proving really difficult. Let me give you just one more chance to change your financial fortunes for life. For five million dollars, would you be ready to swim across the Atlantic without any aid?

No, thank you, did I hear you say? Why would you not want to do any of those even for so great a reward? They were too dangerous. You were smart enough to sense danger, even from many miles ahead. Good for you. But you know what? There
is a graver danger the world knows nothing about. Conscientiously and ignorantly, many men and women are daily jumping in front of the moving train – hand, foot, head and all.

Daily, countless fellow country men and women are opening the window of a high altitude plane and taking a plunge into the clouds. And there are many more who through conscientious stupidity are diving
into the Atlantic Ocean in into the ready mouths of the sharks. You know the
reason why? They daily subscribe to the life of ignorance. They discover a knowledge gap and do nothing to fill it.

They observe a knowledge deficiency in an area of their life and they just sit down and hope the miraculous will happen.
There is no doubt that hope is a vital part of life and living. If you stop hoping, you practically stop living. But hope is not a
passive virtue. Hope is kept alive when practical steps are being taken towards its realization.

The truth, dear reader is that hope without a corresponding action is a
conscientious stupidity. My dear reader, if you desire to live out of danger, then you must fight ignorance and conscientious stupidity. You can’t sit on your oars when
knowledge is beckoning. You can’t go on holidays from knowledge. The easiest way to jump in front of a fast moving train of life is for you to embrace ignorance and court stupidity conscientiously. I have a feeling you know better than to endanger your life by embracing ignorance in this
knowledge-based world.

Ponder through… Be resolute and say… I am embracing knowledge daily!
