THE FUTILITY OF PRAYING FOR OUR BELOVED NIGERIA ~ Moore Omotayo Oladipo

While I Earnestly Believe That There Is A Place For Prayer Amidst All That Is/Has Been Going On In Nigeria, The Fact Still Remains That Even The Bible Says “Faith Without Works Is Dead”. God Will Never Leave His Throne In Heaven To Come Down To Earth To Do For Man What He Has Already Empowered Him To Do For Himself. We Can Pray All We Want For Change In Nigeria But The Ugly Truth Is That For As Long As Our Prayers Are Not Met With Positive Actions In The Right Direction, Nothing Is Going To Change. The So Called Nations Of The World Today “Where Things Work” Did Not Get There By Sitting On Their Behinds And Praying To God For Change. They Took Their Destinies Into Their Own Hands As A People And Ran With It. Our Problem In Nigeria Isn’t A Paucity Of Prayers Or The Need For More Prayers, It’s Simply The Paucity Of Actions In The Right Direction To Complement Those Important Prayers. We Cannot Expect To Reap When We Haven’t Sown To Start With Nor Can We Expect To Reap Sunflowers When We Sowed Thorns. God Is A Lot Of Things, Merciful Inclusive But To The Best Of My Albeit Limited But Growing Understanding On Issues Of Faith, He’s Neither The Author Of Confusion Nor Is He Confused God. As A Matter Of Fact He Is A God Of Time Honored And Established Principles. We The People Of Nigeria Are The Architects Of Our Predicament And By Extension Our Own Greatest Enemy. The Vast Majority Of Our Problems, Like Their Solutions Are Glaring To Even The Blind. No Amount Of Fasting, Casting, Binding Or Loosening Is Going To Change That- Not Without Constructive Actions. For The Sake Of Clarity, Let Me Reiterate That I Am A Firm Believer In Prayers But What I Cant Stomach Any Longer Is The Incessant Clamor For Prayers In The Absence Of Decisive Action Whenever Foreseeable And Avoidable Tragedies Befall Our Nation.
