THE COST OF #FUELSUBSIDYSCAM TO MY COUNTRY

The most populous black nation could well be described, years ago, as
not only being endowed with abundant natural resources but as well
boast of meaningful exploits of its potentials (including effective
manpower management).

Crude-Oil undoubtedly is Nigeria’s biggest natural reserve, and taken
cognizance of the export-value of petroleum products in terms of
financial returns & diplomatic ties, of-course Nigeria would crave a
fair share on the ‘booming’ trade. However, recent developments in the
nation’s Oil sector had seemed otherwise.
A nation known for its diverse economic potentials suddenly has
transformed into an eccentric destination for frivolous management of
resources.

Attacks & Counterattacks have been witnessed since revelations of the
fuel subsidy scam in Nigeria; more importantly, issues have been
presented logically by civil society groups rather than the usual
attacks on personalities involved. Major high-points of such
accusations leveled against Government include ‘Contradictory Figures
of Payments for fuels subsidy in the four (4) years in-review’,
‘Illegal Fuel Imports by some unregistered (twenty) 20 companies’,
amongst others.

Collectively, the cost of this scam to my country has greatly
undermined the integral practice of accountability & responsive
governance in a democratic era. However our unified resolution must be
decisive to a logical end!

  13. Very good write up but I seriously doubt if any change wld come bcos Nigerians are either very naïve or we are plain stupid. Someone said may God help us, and I jst wonder if they expect God to come down from heaven to solve our problems for us. Sometimes the best way to peace is war, until we realize that and put away our petty sentiments, there would be no new Nigeria.

  22. Inevitably we are our own problems. Except the solution is proferred within us collectively, we are in for some more chaotic series.
