#Save Oke
I met Oke through one of my friends in my first year in OAU. He had this charm that attracted people to him, bees to nectar. Oke had a story for every occasion; a smile for every situation. That smile behind that tiny voice is what many remember.

Later, I heard that he had diabetes, that one of his toes was amputated. Oke looked well. I felt this sadness, wondered how the sad things happens to the best people. I did not know what to do. Oke’s grades got worse; the wound would not heal; it got bigger. Oke disappeared. Until last night when I saw him on Linda Ikeji’s blog. Now, I know what to do.

Oke is now a couch potato. His legs, heavy bags of stones. They cannot move him. He cannot move them. Even then, that same old look on his face remains. That look that says “It is well.” Oke is a well of optimism, always brimming, never empty. I am so sure that’s why he is still here with us.

Oke has been diagnosed with Diabetes type 1 and 2. The wound on his toe has taken his feet. It threatens to take his life. Oke needs your help. Oke needs 5million naira for an operation in India. Oke needs this money fast.

There are some things you do not choose in life; the family you are born into; the country you are born into; your genes; the sicknesses passed through those genes. Oke cannot change these. You cannot change this but, there is something you can change. Something you can save; Oke’s legs; his life.

There are two things that you can do to save Oke:

Donate: You can donate any amount to save Oke’s life. 5million naira is a long way. It would be great if one person gives that. But 5m is just 5,000 people giving N1,000 each. Please try to give a minimum of a N1,000. More is better.

Tell someone: Everyone knows someone. You have a Facebook page, a Twitter account, a blog. You have something. You have a voice. Oke needs your voice. Please tell anyone you can about Oke’s situation. Write a Facebook status about him. Share this information on Twitter. Write this as a BB status. Talk about Oke in your office, in your church, everywhere, to everyone. Please check that it has the right account number on it.

Oke could be your family member. He could be you. Please save Oke’s life. Kindly rebroadcast

I had made up my mind to donate the little I could to this cause. I’ll do a lil’ more. I’ll talk abt Oke. He is evrything temitayo said he is. He was also a wonderful football player(I first met him on the football field). It’s quite pitiful he may never exhibit those skills again. I remember going to see him when he had his second toe amputated with an older friend who tried creating awareness via radio/print media. Oke has fought this battle by himself for a long while, now let’s join hands and help him win it.

i just did donate the little i had for oke with tears. this cant be far removed from Govt officials who are stealing tax payers money and our collective resources for their personal aggrandizement, instead of using it to save millions of suffering souls like these in Nigeria. More than the money, i pray for his fast healing and i pray for millions of others like him in Nigeria, suffering the same fate. One love bro!

  • Sisi

@Okiri Christopher R, In as much as I understand ur enthusiasm about Oke’s case, pls let’s not underestimate d power of prayer. It sure works wonders! Except if its not to God thru Christ Jesus.
We’ll donate as God blesses us &i know by HIS grace Oke’ll be totally healed, but let’s not forget to give all the glory to God when its done.

On behalf of tehn, our mission is to reach out to people in need, we will send a field worker to verify this story tomorrow and report back ASAP. This however does not mean we are organising a fund raising or would collect funds on his behalf.we would only confirm the story and if true, people that wants to help can donate to his account directly.

  • yetunde

Abubakar Usman: Taraba and the PDP; A Timeline of Injustice

The political history of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will never be complete without the mention of the party’s rigging machinery. The grassroots structure of PDP is one, built on the fulcrum of well-oiled rigging machinery. The last general elections reaffirmed the stand that PDP...

@Allsocks_: Challenges that come with Not Wearing Socks

It’s a choice to wear or not wear socks. It’s also a choice to accept the problems that come with not wearing them. Wearing socks helps to keep the feet and body warm. Socks helps to keep the feet clean as they don’t have to contact your shoe’s interior. Socks helps to keep your feet warm, preserve your shoes, and ensure that they don’t produce offensive odour that can be quite embarrassing.
