About 10 people have been reported killed following the invasion of Kufara Village in Chukun Local Government Area of Kaduna State by armed bandits suspected to be fulanis.

The incident, said to have occurred on Thursday night also left several others injured.

The bandits, said to be about 20 in number reportedly arrived the village, armed with AK47 riffles and opened fire on the community.

An eyewitness said the invaders arrived the village around 10 p.m and started shooting sporadically at people and setting houses ablaze.

Among those killed was the pastor of the Assemblies of God Church in the area, Pastor Innocent Chukwuemeka Mari who was murdered right in the presence of his wife and children after which the wife was shot and left to die. The church was equally set on fire.

About five people were said to have sustained serious injuries from gun shots and were rushed to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Shika, near Zaria.

Reacting to the incident, the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Aminu Lawal (ASP) said his attention has been drawn to the incident, adding he was awaiting details of the incident from the policemen that were dispatched to the village to investigate what happened.
