I am deeply shocked and outraged over the coordinated bombings in Kano that claimed scores of lives on Friday and the bombing in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
I am benumbed by the orgy of violence and destruction to lives and properties that was visited on the ancient city of Kano.
These dastardly acts are totally unacceptable and in negation of our humanity. There can never be any justification of the killing of innocent Nigerians under any guise.
Even with all the great strides that man has made in science and technology, he has not been able to create life. This should confirm to us all as Nigerians no matter our faith that human life is the exclusive preserve of the Almighty and must never be equated to animal life that may be taken at will.
With a heavy heart, I express my condolences to the families of all those affected by the bombings and to the government and people of Kano State; the Nigeria Police command and the Nigeria Immigration Service which were targeted in the attacks. I wish to also express my condolences to Channels TV and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the death in the line of duty of the young Channels TV Kano Correspondent, Enenche Akogwu.
I urge the security agents to step up their intelligence gathering initiatives to avert a repeat of Friday’s incident in Kano and the one that took place in Yenagoa on Saturday.
