Once upon a time, there lived a wealthy, mysterious and influential king. He was the supreme ruler of all the kingdoms. He ruled with all fairness, slow to anger and merciful in judgment.
Socially, he was a father to all but biologically he was a father to none. He had everything save a wife and a child to his name. He could have gotten a partner or more for himself but he decided against it because he feared distraction and disrespect.
The vastness of his kingdom measured from one end of the earth to the other. His authority was never questioned and when one of his servants thought in his heart to contend with his lord’s authority because he saw himself as an equal, the servant lost his position and he was sent out of the kingdom empty and bare of all his possessions into a dark kingdom. There was never an occurrence of confrontation to his sovereignty again.
Upon his kingdom there was no end and his kingdom increased day-in, day-out because he ruled with peace.
On a faithful day, from the pinnacle of his empire he looked upon his kingdom and he was in awe. He realized that he had been too busy to notice that his kingdom had grown more and more. This neglect bothered the king so much that he pondered on it day and night what the next action should be. This went on for days……………
One afternoon, a thought came to the wise and mysterious king and without wasting time he started to work towards execution. He decided that it was the time for him to have a right hand man. He wanted someone that would be like him, out of his own image and with the same level of wisdom and purity.
Yea, he wanted a clone of himself!!!
And so it was time for the plan to be executed. The king called his messenger of good tidings and sent him to a maiden in a small town. He told the messenger what and what he should tell this chosen maiden. The messenger paid homage and left to the town where this maiden lived. On arrival, he told her that she had been chosen by the king to be the mother of a ruler, and this ruler would be one, body , soul and spirit with the king.
Meanwhile, she had a fiancé and they were about to get married. She told the messenger this and the messenger told her to fear not and explained further to her that the pregnancy would be mysterious and there won’t be need for her to have any intimacy whatsoever with the king. She accepted willingly because she respected the king but she gave the messenger a condition; which was for him to explain this to her fiancé. Her fiancé didn’t want to hear any of it at first but with much persuasion and the love he had for her, he also agreed.
The messenger also went on to say that the maiden will conceive, and when the time is due:
“a child would be born unto us,
a Son would be given,
the government shall be upon his shoulders,
and He shall be called by the name: Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty one, Everlasting king, Prince of peace.
His government and its peace will never end,
He would rule with fairness and justice for all eternity.
After the messenger told them all he was asked to, he took his leave and never showed up to them again.
Afterwards, the man took the hand of the maiden in marriage and they said their vows. He stood by her throughout the pregnancy period and the set time came in fulfillment of the words of the messenger.
A son was born!
All hail the king!!!
We celebrate Christmas today because of this child. His birth brought joy, redemption and celebration.
